Basic Rotary Flight Training is for newly enrolled students who wish to earn their basic air qualification badge. Before applying for this course, all must complete the Introductory Flight Training course. Members will learn the basics of Visual Flight Rules (VFR) flying and communications in these introductory rotary flight sessions. The duration of these training classes are generally two two hour classes a week for 2 weeks.
The four main phases of Basic Rotary Flight Training are:
First Phase: Introduction to VFR rotary flight, Hovering and Taxiing
Second Phase: Controlled Airspaces, Agility Training
Third Phase: Combat Airspaces, Combat Landings, Hovering Insertions
Final testing for Basic Rotary Flight Training will follow night flying in the fourth phase.
